Education Transformation Alliance is a place for mavericks unafraid to chart new paths for learning, a place for sharing our best practices and a place to grow together in changing how we learn.
Education Transformation Alliance was formed as a 501c3 in 2013, an all volunteer initiative to bring together educators of the Central Texas area by increasing access, awareness, and connectivity in order to foster and develop alternative education.
Education Transformation Alliance sponsors and organizes Alternative School Fair, hosts gatherings of educators and students, among others.
In January 2018, it changed its governance structure as a non-member organization to allow more streamlined operation and planning.
Kristin founded Sansori, a global model of education that embraces compassion, community & commerce, and hopes to collaborate with others who are transforming the world.
At Sansori, Kristin is integrating the best of both private and not-for-profit experiences she’s had. She was president of AllLearn, an online educational venture among Oxford, Stanford, and Yale Universities, that served over 11,000 students from over 75 countries. As Director for New Initiatives for Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, she was instrumental in developing the Women’s Leadership Board. She also practiced law at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett’s New York and London offices, and specialized in international capital market transactions.
When not working on Sansori, Kristin likes to go “recreational”mountaineering in the Canadian Rockies, watch sheep in New Zealand, join meditation retreats, and throw dinner parties for friends.
Kristin received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her A.B. from Bryn Mawr College, cum laude, in Chinese Philosophy. She currently serves on the Board of RAIT Investment Trust (NYSE: RAS). She has also served on the Board of Trustees of Bryn Mawr College and many other non-profit boards.
My educational background is varied, to say the least. I have been home-schooled, Unschooled, Waldorf schooled, Montessori schooled, and public schooled. I have worked for (and my daughters have attended): parent run co-ops, Waldorf-oriented and Montessori pre-schools, Sudbury schools, public schools and public-charter schools.
I am the founding Development Director of Sankalpa Academy, and for the last five years, I served as the Executive Director and Founder of Integrity Academy at Casa de Luz, Center for Integral Studies. I was the Executive Director of Austin Home Base (AHB) Community School for four years prior to that. During this time, I had also helped found the Clearview Sudbury School of Austin. Before I accepted the leadership role at AHB, I worked as the Development Director for the Austin Discovery School assisting administration with various projects including fund raising, events, after school programs, parent education programs, volunteerism and service learning opportunities.
I hold an EC-4 teaching certificate from the State of Texas as well as a B.A. from UT-Austin in History/Applied Learning & Development and a M.Ed. from Texas State University-San Marcos in bilingual/bicultural education. I am currently working on my PhD. in Educational Administration at Texas State University-San Marcos. My teaching experience focused on early childhood with South Austin Children’s Cooperative, Starbright Preschool, Montessori Escuela de Montopolis as well as bilingual Kindergarten at Maplewood elementary (AISD) and Kindergarten/first grade at Austin Discovery School. Some of my volunteer work also includes teaching ESL in Mexico and Guatemala at Colegio Cuernavaca, Casa Xelaju, Colegio Alonzo Morelio, and La Pedrera.
I can perhaps safely say that my experiences have given me a unique perspective on the broad variety of modalities available and the large range in the needs and learning styles of children. As my journey shows, I have always been a proponent of individualized education that is purposeful and empowering.
